Earth is burning: How Taiwan and European countries cope with urban heat
Moving into the early Autumn of October, the outdoor temperatures of Taiwan still frequently soar past 38°C, and the urban heat island problem is hardly news anymore for the people.
But what exactly does urban heat mean for human life and public health? And what are the policies that different countries are adopting to help cities adapt to rising temperatures?
This episode in "Climate Rock and Roll" has invited two scholars who have studied urban heat island issues for nearly 20 years: Professor Lin Tzu-Ping from National Cheng Kung University and Dr. Andreas Matzarakis from the University of Freiburg, Germany.
Together, they will guide us into the world of urban heat island research, exploring the similarities and differences between Taiwan and Europe, and discussing how science and policy can work hand-in-hand to tackle the new challenges that heat brings to our life.
