  Self Introduction

Hsu Ying-Shao is a Professor of Graduate Institute of Science Education and the Department of Earth Sciences, as well as Vice President for Research and Development at the National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU). She received her Ph.D. degree in 1997 from the department of curriculum and instruction at the Iowa State University. Her research focuses on inquiry learning, science curriculum design, metacognition, social-scientific issue education, and STEM education. She has been a visiting professor at the University of Johannesburg since 2018. She was invited to be an external member on the Review Panel by the University of Hong Kong and the Educational University of Hong Kong in 2019, editorial board of Chinese Journal of Science Education, the senior editor of International Journal of Science and Mathematics Education, and the associate editor of Research in Science education. Also, she served as Vice President of the East-Asian Association for Science Education (EASE) 2019-2021. Professor Hsu's research work has been recognized with Outstanding Research Awards by the Minister of Science Technology (MOST) in Taiwan. She holds, and has held, the position of Research Chair Professor at NTNU for the periods January 2016–December 2018 and October 2012–January 2015. Currently, she is Chair Professor of NTNU.
