Issues and Objectives
In recent years, Taiwan has suffered significant economic losses due to the impact of extreme weather, with the agricultural sector being the most severely affected. The agricultural production process is vulnerable to meteorological disasters. Based on past experience, it is often difficult to notify farmers in a timely manner to take action when agricultural meteorological disasters occur, leading to crop failures for farmers. This indirectly affects the supply and demand in the agricultural product market. Common agricultural meteorological disasters include typhoons, torrential rain, cold damage, and droughts.
Improvement Measures Taken
Strengthening disaster prevention and response concepts for different crops among farmers across various regions, and conducting educational training and informational sessions for farmers, can ensure that disaster prevention concepts and measures are effectively implemented by agricultural producers.
Results
In cooperation with the Council of Agriculture, various research and extension stations in Taiwan are promoting agricultural meteorological disaster prevention information download services in agricultural production areas. By using mobile phones and other 3C products, people can quickly access agricultural meteorological information established by government agencies and take early disaster prediction and prevention measures.
